Although
it cannot substitute for a professional safety and health
consultant, OSHA's new Hazard Awareness Advisor is an
invaluable interactive tool that will help you identify
and understand some of the more common occupational safety
and health hazards in your work place.
The
Hazard
Awareness Advisor is a free Windows program that can
be downloaded from the OSHA site. It questions users about
workplace activities, practices, materials, equipment,
and policies. The program uses your answers to determine
the hazards that are likely to be present. It then prepares
a customized analysis that briefly describes the likely
hazards and the OSHA standards which address those hazards.
One
of the most cited OSHA violations is in hazard communications.
By owning your own label and sign maker, you can be sure
your facility is adequately labeled at all times. There's
no having to order out for labels and wait for delivery.
